
Swelling Volumes of Polystyrene, TentaGel® and HypoGel® Resins

To remove soluble by-products and impurities the resin has to be be washed carefully with toluene, CH2Cl2, DMF and methanol (5 times each solvent) and dried. To the dry resin (1 g in a 10-15 ml graduated cylinder) solvent is added and the resin is accurately mixed with the solvent (12-18 ml). The cylinder is sealed and after 2 h the resin is stirred again to remove all remaining air bubbles and to form a homogenous resin suspension. The cylinder is sealed again and after 22 h of settlement the resin volume is measured.
